My name is Andrew Secor and I am currently the principal at Jamestown Upper Elementary in Hudsonville, Michigan. Our building houses 3rd-5th grade students. I have been in education for 20 years, as a teacher, varsity basketball coach, and now in my 8th as a principal. I am passionate about education, kids, collaboration, leadership, and chasing greatness (#ChaseIt).
My family has worked in public schools for over 50 years. I believe strongly that our public schools are better today than they have ever been. I believe that all students have strengths and it is our duty to support and develop those. All school districts need to be collaborative in nature. There must be an expectation of risk-taking and innovation for all staff members.
Personally, I love life at home with my wife of nearly 15 years, Angie. She is a small business owner (dinnergirlangie.com) and someone who inspires me by her risk taking and willingness to follow her dreams. My daughter Ally is 13 and my son Myles is 9. There is nothing better than spending time with the three of them.
In my personal time, I enjoy playing sports, especially golf and basketball. I love to work out and read. My favorite sports teams are the Spartans, Lions, and Tigers.
